Help Your Home Shed Its Winter Coat

We’ve said so long to winter and hello to spring, and your home is probably ready to shed its winter coat as much as you are.

You can give your home a mini facelift and get it ready for warmer weather with some of these tips:

Change out the light bulbs – inside and outside. The bulbs on your porch are probably due for a change, so swap ’em out for new ones. You can always tell a difference when you put in new bulbs – it’ll give you a fresh perspective of your front porch too! If lights are looking a little dim in your home (or have burnt out completely!), change them. You’re probably used to a little less light from winter, but with longer days upon us you should also brighten up the inside of your home as well.

Opt for a fresh coat of paint on your front door, and maybe a few walls too. You can give the front door a spring makeover by going with a brighter color (think red or yellow). On the inside of your home, giving walls a fresh coat of paint can make you feel like you’re living in a completely different space – and it may even inspire you to get a little more creative with your home decor and furniture arrangements.

Get to planting those florals and shrubbery! This one is probably a longer project that you’ll want to schedule out over a weekend, but getting your flowers planted and adding shrubbery is a great way to add a new look to the outside of your home. You can also use plants to hide unattractive aspects of your home or yard with some strategic placements. When it comes to the porch, place large pots or hanging baskets and use bushes or hedges to hide air-conditioning units or other unsightly outdoor appliances.

Finally tackle that spring cleaning list – for the outside and inside of your home. Inside, do the deep clean you’ve been dreading because you’ll feel a lot better once it’s done, plus your home will look amazing! Scrub the baseboards, wash the window treatments, and get down and dirty with the oven. Trust us, we know it’s a lot of work but it’s totally worth it in the end! As for the outside, sweep sidewalks and walkways, trim edges, repaint posts, and secure wobbly railings.
