Don’t have a fall bucket list? Let’s make one.
With this big season of change why not make a list of daring and exciting items. Here are some options to get you started.
- Create a unique scent for your home. Autumn brings so many exciting smells to our palette. Apple pie, pumpkin, crisp fresh air to name a few of the scents that mark the season. Why not make a smell that is uniquely yours?
What you will need:
- Small bottle or vase
- 20-25 drops of your favorite essential oil(s)
- 1/4 cup of unscented baby oil
- 3 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol or vodka
- Diffuser reeds or Bamboo skewers
- Scissors or utility knife to cut reeds
- Bowl to mix ingredients
- Small funnel to pour into vase or diffuser containers
- Make personalize place cards.
Start with the base/holder and add the name in a creative font. Set the timer and give yourself 30 minutes while using only what is in your home or yard.
- Learn something new about yourself. Sit down with a cup of apple cider and brainstorm in a free flow format. Whatever pops in your head jot it down. This is such a great way to express your feelings, concerns and desires.
- Create and name a fall cocktail. How about: Fall’s Folly, Autumn’s Ale: Guaranteed to fix what ails, Campfire Sling, Apple Cider Mimosas, Crispy Apple Cider: For Those Who Drink Dessert…you get the idea.
- Have a party now! Don’t wait until your house is perfect. Make the menu super simple and semi-homemade items. Even a dessert party featuring seasonal items with a twist. Make your own caramel Apple Bar with a few unexpected toppings.
- Host a brunch the day after Thanksgiving. One of the days we all hate to cook. The only requirement…pretty table and paper plates.
- Create a new tradition. Everyday write someone a note letting them know why you are thankful for them. You decide if you want to sign it.
- Take the kiddos to a Halloween maze or pumpkin patch. Don’t have little ones at home? Offer to take the sweet neighbor children. Trust me the parents will love you!
- Get organized. Complete your task list and start knocking off the items in advance of the next holiday. Plan your Christmas décor, gift list and give yourself a completion date.
- Purge out of season clothes. Try posting on an online consignment site i.e. Postmark or Mercari. Click on sites for special discounts.
- Support a charity in a festive way. Witches party with DIY witches hat with guest donating canned goods for the local food bank, donate lightly used clothes to Dress for Success, etc
- Do something unexpected. Send out Thanksgiving cards instead of Christmas cards. I love getting cards when it not so hectic.
- Enjoy the season!
