The glittery ball dropped in New York, champagne was popped and resolutions have been made. But before we dive head-first into the new year, our designers here at The DSA got together to share Top Ten Home Decor Trends for 2016. Check them out…
1. Texture – faux fur in particular adding great texture to a variety of pieces in a variety of rooms.
2. Tropical Motifs – brightly colored, boldly designed tropical prints will make their way into the home this year.
3. Black Stainless Steel – the richer, more muted, easier to maintain sibling of stainless is making its way into the market this year.
4. Formal Dining Rooms – re-surfacing in popularity is the demand and use of a formal dining room.
5. Mismatched Cabinets – Matchy-matchy was so last year. Give the mismatched cabinetry trend a try for a great way to break up the colors and add dimension.
6. Statement Bathroom Mirrors – Gone are the days of boring, builder-grade mirrors in bathrooms.
7. Tech-Less “Glamily Room” – families are now opting to keep technology out of their living rooms. Instead, adding haute couture, yet hard-working fabrics and furniture for a luxurious yet livable living space.
8. Bathrooms as Living Spaces – In 2016, we expect you to stay a little longer in and around that soaking tub… doesn’t sound bad, eh?
9. Bringing The Outdoors In – In the new year, we’re going to see more natural elements, with plants in particular, to bring the outdoors inside as much as possible.
10. Geometric Tiles – Geometrics have been making their way into the market for the past year, and in 2016, they’re making a big arrival in the form of great tiles – especially with bold backsplash designs.
