We’re officially in full-blown holiday season, and that means if you haven’t already decorated your home for Christmas, then you’ll be doing so soon. Those with fireplace mantels may already have a certain way they like to dress up their mantel for the season, while others may have no idea where to begin or want to change it up a bit. That’s where we come in. We’re here to help you find a style and design you like, by offering up some ideas on how we’d decorate our mantels!

Check out these pretty (and fun!) designs for your fireplace mantel this Christmas:

Stick with the holiday: If you’re more of the traditional type when it comes to decorating your home for Christmas, then we suggest sticking with the typical colors of red and green for your mantel. However, just because you like going with traditional Christmas colors doesn’t mean you can’t get creative in the way you use those colors. Take your DIY skills to another level by creating a red carnation wreath or garland. Not only will you be proud to showcase your project, but you’ll also have the fresh scent of flowers in your home. You will also want to purchase a Poinsettia plant or two for a traditional Christmas look. Don’t forget about your greens though! If making a wreath or another project isn’t really for you, purchase a green wreath and hang it up above the mantel. Red and green are everywhere this season, so you’ll never run out of items to decorate your mantel with in these traditional Christmas colors.

Mix luxe and rustic: Luxe and rustic are two huge trends in home decor. So why not combine them? Take your rustic taste and transfer it to your fireplace mantle by opting with some earthy-toned decor items. Whether it’s a burlap Christmas tree, a wooden tree, or even deer antlers to place above the fireplace, you’ll bring that rustic feel right into your living room. When it comes to luxe, pick up some items with metallic hues. Thankfully because of the variety in Christmas styles these days, you won’t have a problem finding metallic trees, garland, or other holiday decor items. Simply combine the two styles and give them their own look on your mantel.

Go country: It’s hard to escape a love of all things country. From the calming look you see in pictures to the celebratory showcasing of the red, white, and blue. Highlight your love for the U.S.A. by using red, white, and blue to decorate your mantel. Take your Americana look up a notch by hanging a rustic American flag above the fireplace or throw in some antique items like trucks, vintage glass milk jars, and sweet and simple stockings. You won’t regret bringing the look of past-time America to your living room.
