Scary isn’t just a thing for the movies or Halloween. It’s real life. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, a a super scary house will go up on the market.
Of course, you see haunted houses being covered everywhere. In the news, on the radio, and in your local newspaper. But even if the house isn’t haunted, it can still look pretty scary from the outside (and the inside if you decorate it right!).
Check out some of these scary homes that have hit the housing market in real life:
Located in Louisiana, this Medieval house is listed at $599,000. It features 4 bedrooms and bathrooms. But one thing you’d probably never guess is that it’s fairly recent construction. With it’s Medieval-inspired decor, it looks like Dracula used to live here.
Built in the 1920s, this castle in Ossining, New York, boasts a massive dining hall, wood panelings, a rustic guesthouse, a lookout perch, and creepy carvings that probably come to life at night. With a steep price of $5 million, this home is being sold “as is.”
Referred to as the Murder Mansion, the Harry Packer Mansion in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, is listed at $1.75 million. The mansion, dating back to 1874, was allegedly the inspiration for Disney’s “The Haunted Mansion” ride. It was constructed by Lehigh University founder Harry Packer as a wedding fit for his daughter Asa Packer. There are stained glass windows by Tiffany, marble fireplaces, and the owners host murder mystery weekends for guests in the now-bed and breakfast.
