It’s super easy to get caught up in the home decor craziness that accompanies each season or holiday. Of course you want to change up the look of your home from winter to summer. The temperature is better, there’s no snow, and everything has a much more lively feel.
But one thing that isn’t always an easy pill to swallow is the price of that home decor you find at the store. We’re here to help you with a few updates you can make to your home’s decor or your home itself without breaking the bank:
1. Pillows – One of the easiest updates you can make to your home’s decor are your pillows. Change up the colors of throw pillows on the couch for a more summery vibe. You can usually throw find pillows for good deals at places like TJ Maxx and Home Goods, but Target also has great choices in addition to IKEA. If you don’t want to buy all new pillows, teach yourself how to make a DIY pillowcase out of fabric – you’ll learn a new skill AND get to freshen up your home’s look.
2. Paint – Of course paint is one of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to update your home. But we’re not talking about slapping a new coat of paint on the wall (although we’re always down for that!). We’re talking about painting your least favorite accessory to completely change it. Paint a fun design on an older desk for a cool new look or buy some fabric paint and go to town on your pillows!
3. Go Palmetto – Serious question. Did you know that the Home Depot sells live palm for just $19? We didn’t but definitely freaked out when we found it! Drive to one of our favorite stores and pick up a live palm tree for your home! It’ll obviously be easier to take care of depending on where you live, but definitely a possibility for everyone! And if you’re worried about keeping it alive, then find a fake palm tree to add a great summer feel to your home.
4. Outdoor painting – No, we don’t mean paint the exterior of your home either. We want you to paint your outdoor cushions with outdoor and waterproofing fabric paint to give them a fun, easy update. There are plenty of options out there, and the cans make it easy for you to get it all at once and without too much fuss that a typical paint brush would cause you.
