Halloween Decor for a Hauntingly Good Time

Check out this guest blog from DSA Trainer Diane Agricola at Agricola Redesign!

Horror movies will soon be taking over television programming and the best time of the year will finally be here! While ghouls, goblins, princesses, and super heroes will be roaming the streets in search of sweet treats, you can host your own Hallow’s Eve party with your friends and neighbors.

But don’t host just any old Halloween party, make it one for the record books with these fabulous party tips that are sure to impress your guests:

It’s all about decorations: The most important part of any party is the decorations. But when it comes to a Halloween party, decorations are absolutely everything. You want your guests to not only be in a partying mood, but you also want them to get in a spooky mood as well! Be sure to decorate every room (yes, even the bathroom!) with fun and spooky decor that will leave guests unsure of what’s lurking just around the corner.

Cast a spooky glow: An automatic way to change the ambience of the room is to swap out your lightbulbs. Whether it’s orange, purple, or even green, give your home the spooky glow you’re looking for. You can also add some string lights around your home for an added glow.

Set up a photo booth: People love having their picture taken during Halloween. Everyone is completely outside of their element and in amazing costumes, so why not give them a chance to capture this moment forever? Setting up a booth can be as simple as getting a big piece of fabric to hang as your backdrop and picking up a few props for guests to incorporate into their photos. They can take the pictures with their phones and immediately post to Facebook and Instagram or you can use a single camera and share all the photos with your friends at once!

Create a whimsical tablescape: You’ll all be sitting down for dinner at some point so make sure that your tablescape is a whimsical one. You’ve got scary decor all around the house so take the time to make the dinner table one that is pretty and easy to look out (and won’t give the kids nightmares!). One great way to add a whimsical look to your centerpiece is to place candles (teacup candles or even artificial ones will work) inside hollowed out pumpkins. It’ll give them a nice, warm glow and the smell of pumpkin will be even better.
