When you learn how to decorate with The-DSA, we always start with the basics. We use a step-by-step approach to the perfect room that will help you ensure that you’re covering all of your bases and leaving clients with a complete look in their home!

Whether you’re a DIY-er or a professional decorator, we can all use the same approach ABCs of Decorating to create the perfect room. Check ’em out below!

1. A placement plan that works: Our decorating classes will teach you the fundamentals of creating a room placement plan that works. You want each room you decorate to have a flow that is easy to follow and also aesthetically pleasing.

2. Beautiful color harmonies: One of our classes is all about building color confidence, which is why it’s called our Confident Color System. Color is the root of every beautiful room. Not only colors that look great together but also colors that make the people that live there feel comfortable and relaxed, like they’re at home. Creating a beautiful room requires an understanding of the color selection process, which requires more than a good eye for color. This Color System is a unique color selection system blending the science of color with the power of numbers. Learn how to communicate color with your client and never again ask the question, “What is your favorite color?”

3. Clarity of lighting: Lighting can really make or break the look of a room. Too much light and you may feel like you’re in a sterile hospital setting. If you use too little light then a room will feel dark and unwelcoming. While the type of lighting needed for each room varies, you won’t use the same type of lighting in the living room as you do the bedroom, we want to help you know which lighting works best where!

4. Discover texture and pattern combos that work: It’s hard to design and decorate the perfect room if you don’t know how to correctly combine textures and patterns. Putting together the wrong combinations can make a room feel off and uneasy. Our hands-on decorating classes will help you get a live look at how textures and patterns look in real life and give you a better understanding on what works together.

5. Excelling at the Wow! factor: We all love the reveals on HGTV shows when clients see the look of their homes at the end of the show. We want to help you give your clients those same feelings when they come back into their home after a day of redesigning and staging. There isn’t a better feeling than the joyful tears and “wows” on your clients’ faces.
